Looking for something that’s only halfway through its life and isn’t ready to retire yet? Try this 2007 Toyota Camry Solara at Mission Classics. Toyota’s bread-and-butter midsize car, the Toyota Camry, has been a perennial best-seller for 40 years.

Built in Toyota’s Georgetown, Kentucky factory in March 2007, this Solara was first registered on December 3, 2007. With the garden-variety Camry sedan so popular, Toyota decided to spin off a couple and convertible for customers looking for a more sporty variety or the ability to drop the top on sunny, warm days.

Dressed in White Pearl (code 70), the car’s paint and trim are in overall very good order. The body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body and the engine bay is extremely tidy. The car’s more swoopy bodylines have helped up well over the past 15 years and definitely lend it a more sporty air than the standard sedan. There is also a spoiler out back.

This Toyota rides on Primewell radials, size 215/60R16 at every corner. Each one is mounted to an original five-spoke alloy wheel. The wheels appear to be in fine form while the tires are in very good condition.

Under the hood is a 2.4L 16-valve four-cylinder engine (code 2AZ-FE) with variable valve timing and sequential fuel injection. Backing up this motor is a five-speed ECT-i automatic transmission (code MMT) and a 3.39:1 final drive. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power locks, power windows, an eight-way driver’s seat and power sideview mirrors.

Safety equipment includes dual front airbags, front and rear side-curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system, High-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, LED taillights, foglights and an engine immobilizer.

The Ivory interior, (code FB00), has held up well and looks nearly immaculate. The front buckets look great, the brown and tan dashboard looks prim and proper and features Optitron gauges. and the center console looks great, as does the carpet. Note the gated console shifter. Ancillary gauges are arrayed facing the driver. A factory AM/FM stereo with CD player and MP3 helps complete the interior.

In June 2006, a restyled 2007 Solara was introduced, with new LED taillights, a revised rear bumper and a redesigned front fascia. Interior changes include Optitron gauges, blue backlighting in the rest of the car’s controls, a new steering wheel design that is somewhat similar to the recently revised Camry SE’s steering wheel, revised shifter, MP3 and WMA CD playback capability, external audio device (e.g. iPod, Zen, cassette) auxiliary port connectivity and Bluetooth connectivity.

Coupe competition to this Solara in 2007 included Ford’s Mustang, Mercedes-Benz’s E-class Coupe,
